3 Things You Can’t Miss on Your Trip to Bryce Canyon

February 11, 2020 by madoutdoorist Leave a Comment

With more than 2.7 million annual visitors, this breathtaking reserve is an absolute Southern Utah must-see. Whether you want to be adventurous and fill your day with activities such as rock climbing, or if you would rather relax and take a more laid back approach roaming the trails on horseback—this national park has something in store for you.

With a wide variety of activities and events depending on the season, Bryce Canyon National Park tours can help you make the most of your visit. Let us help you choose from a selection of experiences so you can embark on a customized and guided exploration of this natural gem.

The Amazing Hoodoos

This national park is famous for its red rock formations, which are called hoodoos. These geological splendors can be found scattered throughout the region from the Colorado Plateau to the Badlands—but they are most prominent and abundant in Bryce Canyon.

The word ‘hoodoo’ means bewitched and that is exactly what these red spires will do. With colorful hues ranging from auburn to ocra, these stunning natural formations will take your breath away. Every season showcases the hoodoos in a different light. Visit in the summer for warmer temperatures on the trails—or opt for a winter visit to see the spires covered in a layer of thick snow.

Viewpoints: Bryce, Rainbow, Yovimpa

Bryce Canyon spans more than 35,835 acres of natural beauty and offers visitors a number of stunning viewpoints. The most common method to see these vistas is to explore the park on foot. With hiking trails divided into 3 categories—easy, moderate, and strenuous—you can find the right trail for your activity level. Simply grab a pair of good hiking shoes with lug traction and set out on the trail of your choice.

You can choose to see these views from a variety of alternative methods—such as by ATV, horseback, or helicopter for a slightly different perspective. An 18-hour scenic drive on Highway 63 is also an easy option to catch a glimpse of what Bryce Canyon has to offer.

A Picture Perfect Sunrise, Sunset, and Night Sky

Nothing is more breathtaking than seeing the sun rise and set in Bryce Canyon against a backdrop of hoodoos. Experience a golden hour by choosing to spend the night in the park. You can stay at the iconic lodge or set up camp at one of several campgrounds.

Bryce Canyon is also famous for its stargazing quality. With very little light pollution, the night sky is clearly displayed attracting thousands of astronomers and stargazers from across the globe. Whether you’re a professional or simply enjoy viewing a full moon, you will not want to miss the night sky over Bryce Canyon. With over 100 programs held every year, visitors can learn about everything cosmos related. Attend these popular sessions and expand your knowledge of topics such as space exploration missions, stars, and various constellations.
